Welcome to another episode of The Weekly Bird Wrap by Neil Hermes where I recap some of the most amazing stories and facts about birds across the nation and from all over the world! 🌍

And for this week, I’m covering three stories for you right here in Molonglo Gorge Nature Reserve;
Birds protect their eggs from snakes by building intricate nests.
Birds – far more than any other animal besides a man – are notable for their tendency to build a home.
A home in which to raise their young and to keep their eggs and chicks safe from snakes and other predators.
Birds construct many different types of nests. There are floating nests, cups, domes, pendulums and basket-shaped nests. They can be made out of sticks, twigs, leaves, grasses, mosses, or even mud.
Hubert the falcon
A migratory bird never before seen in eastern Australia has been safely released after months of treatment for a pair of fractured wings.
The hobby, dubbed “Hubert”, was discovered in November walking around a paddock just outside south-east Victorian town Sale.
It was the first time the species had been seen in the east after a handful of sightings in Perth.
Birds Hitting Windows
This is a sad story about birds hitting the window thinking that they could fly through the window or into the reflected bush that they can see.
Statistics have shown that in the United States of America, up to a billion birds a year hit windows. When you have a statistics like that, we should ask ourselves, “What can we do about it?”
